PURPOSE OF UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH:

United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Mission Team meets once a month to plan activities and projects to allow all women of the church opportunities to fulfill the purpose.  Some of those include the following:

  • Cooking meals once a month for Hope Haven family shelter
  • Learning from representatives of service organizations, such as Safe Passage, CASA, and Opportunity House, about their missions and about ways we can be of service to them and their clients.
  • Organizing an annual thrift sale to provide needed items to community members and organizations and to earn money to support our missions.
  • Offering luncheons four times a year for all women of SUMC and surrounding churches and providing informative programs and fellowship.
  • Participating in the annual Sycamore Pumpkin Fest Craft Sale to promote our church in the community and to earn money to support our missions and SUMC.

UWF Circles are small groups of women of all ages who meet monthly to have fellowship, education on a variety of topics, and creative activities, all chosen by the group members.

UWF Circle Meetings – Dates and Times

  • NOW Circle – 3rd Sunday of the month at 11:00 am – Circle Leader: Amanda Russell
  • Ruth Circle – 3rd Monday of the month at 9:30 – Circle Leaders: Rhonda Cheney and Sally Scott
  • Grace Circle – 3rd Tuesday at 1:00 pm – Circle Leader: Cheryl Callighan
  • Circle meetings are generally held in meeting rooms at the church.
  • Call the church office for answers to any questions.

UWF Library

Everyone is invited to use the UWF Library, located in the Church Lounge.  Books are divided into five categories – Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, and Spiritual Growth. Simply choose a book that seems interesting to you and take it and read it.  There is no check-out process; just return the book when you are finished. You may wish to participate in the UWF Reading Program which involves reading books from each category and keeping a log.
